The same item that needs a CRATE FOR GROUND TRAVEL may be OKAY IN A DURABLE CORRUGATED BOX FOR AIR TRANSPORTATION. That's because motor, rail or ocean freight is subject to much more vibration. Ground freight will also be handled many more times, usually by fork lift, and is more subject to being crushed. To control their risks, insurers require CRATES FOR HIGH VALUE ITEMS. They set different limits for ground or air. We can INSURE FOR UP TO $1,000,000 - based on our reputation with our insurers. As a general rule, items OVER 300 POUNDS SHOULD BE CRATED.  
CERTAIN SHAPES AND MATERIALS NEED EXTRA PROTECTION.Slabs or tabletops made of stone or glass must be crated. Large or valuable paintings or prints are also crated to protect from punctures.
